removed exhaust on v-10 and...

...and i am getting sick of the slappy sound it makes at high rpms.at idle and low rpm it sounds good, but once you give it some gas it sounds slappy or winy.i want to put an aftermarket on to get rid of that. any suggestions? i did listen to abendx, sounds good.wonder if he gets that slappy sound.still have oem muffler, may resort putting that back on.Thanks for input.

Are you referring to "The Flutter"?

I don't have it, I think. I hear the only real fix is headers & new Y-pipe.

I think what he means by winy is, at about 3,000 rpms it sounds like a nascar wound up to 10,000 at 180mph. I think it sounds kinda cool but I'm getting tired of it. Or another way you could describe it is a Honda on some serious steroids.
I was wondering if an exhaust tip would change the sound.

we'll decided to get the flowmaster 70(big block) series.it's alot quieter than the straight pipe.maybe it's just me because i was used to the straight pipe but it doesn't seem much louder than stock.it does have a deeper tone but again it's really not that noticeable.will keep this on and not mess with it anymore.

The flowmaster 70 series is one of their quietest mufflers. I beleave the loudest are the 40's and then the 50's.

I am running a 50 (SUV) series on my SD. I thought it was going to be alot louder. It did add a nice rumble at idle but it is kinda of mellow when you get on it. The guy at the muffler shop told me that the SUV series is quieter then the Delta series. Maybe later on I will go with the 40 series and make some real noise!
