Timesert repair

Luckily, I have not needed it, but plenty of guys on this forum have used it and seem to like it. You might be able to buy a kit off someone who has some inserts left over from their repairs. Good luck.

I have used it, It worked well take your time read and follow the instructions, they also have a video on their website, go slow and easy. I have 38 more 5.4`s in the fleet so I better keep my kit. This is the only one I had do this it had 68,000 miles on it. most of the others I have have got well over 100,000 miles on them, a few 200,000 and 300.000 on them and they pull 10,000 lb trailers 5 days a week

Question about the blowout problem

I have a 2000 expy and Thank God ! have never had the blowout problem.
I do still have the original spark plugs in the engine but I figure its about time to change them. Does the blowout problem occur after the spark plugs have been changed or it is not really related to that?

I have to admit this is one reason I have put off changing the plugs, the other reason is I know how difficult the job is going to be.

Thanks for the input guys!
That will make my wife happy. The Ford garage wants 3500.00 to replace one head with the "right" head!
I have them do both , and it's going to cost me more than the rig is worth!
I'm goin for it!!!
Wish me luck!
Thanks again!
P.S. Far as I can tell , looks like these plugs are the originals. We bought the 02 Expy with 73,000 on it and it popped the plug at 98,000.
Learned a hard lesson I guess!

What is this blow-out problem? and what's the root cause?
Is it isololated to the trucks or does it occur on the Expedition's?
Is there a TSB or recall? and if so, does Ford have a fix.
Sorry for all the questions.
Thanks.

Best thing to do GLM is to do a search here on FTE.
Type in "Sparkplug blowouts" or something like that. I looked in the 4.6L/5.4L forum. I found out a bunch of info on the subject.
As far as I know , there is a TSB on it , but no recall!
