Another V10 cat back question.

There are as many differing opinions on exhaust as there are V10 truck owners. All make good points and I have no doubt all the exhaust mods have GOT to be better than stock.

One topic I have not seen discussed is the exhaust pipe size.

Wouldn't this also account for better performance through lower back pressure assuming a larger diameter pipe size (within reason)?

Example: The stock exhaust pipe size is 3 inches with a 3 1/2 inch tailpipe. The Banks cat back offers an increase in overall exhaust pipe size to 3 1/2 inch exhaust with a 4 inch tailpipe.

Since Banks is apparently the only company offering the larger sized pipe, are they they only ones who believe bigger is better? Or, in the V10 case, does it really matter?

I would be inclined to take the Banks study on this one.

Comments?

Dan

IMHO, Banks has done a better job convincing me that their products work in the real world. I insist on seeing real data, not hyperbole. Bank's publishes rear-wheel HP and Torque gains in real trucks, empty and loaded, so you can see what you will get where the rubber meets the road. The quality of their products seems a cut above some of the competition.

That's why I went with Bank's.

I just wish they would show the *whole* powerband, and real dyno tables. But at least the publish *something*. Has anyone gotten any real dyno charts or data files out of them?

Unless Ford changed something, the stock exhaust on the gassers is 3" all the way. Banks switches to 3 1/2" after the cat and uses a 4" tip. The PSD folks have 3 1/2" stock.
