jlsworks; pulled into the the house in the early evening to find my 5" Chrome exhaust tip, turned to solid gold!

She sounds like she got a little warm ! Motorcycle shops carry a product that will remove this. It's fairly common for chrome to turn yellow or even blue from heat. I always told the guys who didn't want their motorcycle headers to turn colors to spray high-temp paint inside their header tubes before they put them on their bikes. The extra coating of paint many times would keep the tubes shiny alot longer because it added a little insulation from the heat of the exhaust. Just put the spray can nozzle inside your tip and move it around until you get a good coating of paint. Make sure the inside is as clean as you can get it with a wire brush, some sandpaper, etc. It works !

What does it sound like if you take out the muffler, and replace with just a 3"pipe?
