Hydraulic Hoist 52 Merc

I have a 52 Merc M3 with a hydraulic hoist for the stepside box. I have seen a number of these 1 ton trucks advertised with the hoist box, and I understand that the hoist was a factory option specifically for grain farmers in western Canada/USA.

I need to have the pump on mine rebuit as it leaks quite a bit. I have not been able find any info on these pumps. Does anone know the make and model of these pumps? Were thay a factory option? Or does anyone know where I can get some info on them?

Thanks in advance

Hydraulic hoists weren't a factory option for any Ford truck. It was all converted after with many done by the farmers themselves.

There was many different types of hoists available so narrowing it down to find parts will be hard. You may have to do to a place that deals with hydraulics and just buy a new pump assembly.

My truck had a 3 ton "Jayhawk" electric hydraulic hoist on it which was immediately removed.

My F600 has a Galion hoist, that I put on to make her a dumper. Any machine shop that is worth a d*** should be able to rebuild it. Mine had been sitting for a couple of years and also leaked. I cycled it a couple of dozen times and tightened the packing nut on the cylinder and it hasn't leaked since. Going on 5 years now.

Thanks for the quick responses.

Bob49F2 the pics in that ad look remarkably like my unit! especially the pic of the pump.

I got the pump and hoses off today, and a buddy can get new hoses made up where he works, and he has given me the name of a local shop that specializes in hydraulics, so the pump is off next week for a rebuild.
Hoping that there is no surprises when they get a hold of it.

Thanks again.

Unless you want to keep it fairly orginal you can consider going with a newer pump if the orginal one is too expensive to fix.
Hopefully is a simple fix and not overly expensive, seals aren`t usually too hard to replace or $$$.
