How To Change Fuel Filter On V-10??
:P I know I need that funny looking tool for the fuel line but how do you use it? I want to change out the fuel filter on my truck and see if that helps some issues I have been having. I have never done this to an in line filter on the frame before so as much info on this one would be great, thanks

The tool you need is a little "circular" tool that they sell at any parts store. You get a kit of 4 or 5 of them. Not very expensive.
You put the tool over and around you fuel line and press it into where the fuel line meets the filter....then pull apart.
The trick is to try and do it without spilling fuel all over yourself!!!

How To Change Fuel Filter On V-10??
> What is the shrade valve, where in the fuel line may I find this device? I do like the spray of gas in the air though .
It is actually called a Schrader Valve. The same as on your tires.
My truck is not here so I am using my CD manual. Follow the chromed fuel lines on the passenger side of the engine (??), at one end there should be the valve. Place a rag or something over it when you depress the plunger. Thisshould be sufficient enough to release the fuel pressure.
Please do not smoke when you do it.
There is a tool that is used to relieve the pressure but not worth the cost if all you're doing is changing the fuel filter.
A good homemade tool for this is, well...the rag...but a more "professional" looking one is to use the hose from a bicycle pump. Place the "fill" end on the valve and the end of the hose in a container then pull the lever down. It's a bit neater...

>Schrader Valve: so now you all know I can not spell.
No biggie. Really...
_______________
FYI, for all those Excursion owners reading this, your fuel filter in not located in the same place as the pickups. Ours is on the passenger side, in the frame rail, kinda above the muffler.
I would imagine that the E-series vans & motorhomes may be in a different location too.

How To Change Fuel Filter On V-10??
How often are you guys replacing the fuel filter? I did mine a couple of weeks ago. I always did it at about 30k but the filter box said every 10k (granted that is the filter company's recommendation). Is there any brand of filter you guys like? I only ask because I used to use Fram oil filters till I started reading this site! I am a K&N oil filter user now.
