97 intake?

i'm looking for a cold air intake for my 97 F-150 and was wondering what brands are the best. i'm looking to hopefully gain a few mpg's.

It's hard to go wrong with K&N's cold air kit. They have it well designed and comes with good instructions. I think their website is www.KNFilters.com.

K&N's are a good choice indeed, have the FIPK and others that many go for here at the MotoHaven shop http://motorhaven.autoanything.com/air-intakes/20A50323A1.aspx
My favorite is the Volant because of its closed-box design, chrome looks pretty sweet too. Lots of insightful customer reviews here http://motorhaven.autoanything.com/air-intakes/61A1817A0A0.aspx

I like my Outlaw Power CAI on my 01. It is a sealed unit as well.

I recommend Outlaw Power: http://www.outlawpower.com/productdetail.php?sc=1180

Outlaw Power: enclosed filter = cold air intake
K&N: exposed filter = warm air intake

Outlaw Power: NeverOil synthetic washable filter
K&N: Oiled cotton washable filter

I don't know of any other aftermarket intake system that has 1. an enclosed filter AND 2. an oil free synthetic filter.

That's what I have. The no oil filter.

I just put an AFE kit on and my city mileage has definitely increased by 2 or 3 mpg. Haven't done a highway check yet.

Fairly straightforward to install and includes a three-sided heatshield to keep the intake of warm air to a minimum.

Not surprisingly, a definite increase in performance.
