So in my quest to completely black out my F250 I decided to have the bumpers sprayed with Line-X. This should hold up to the elements better than having them painted or powder coated. Next up is the grill and grill guard (arrives tomorrow!)
I removed the bumpers myself and all the plastic parts. I paid $275 for both bumpers. They are sprayed on both sides to prevent any peeling and rusting. I think it was a fair price considering the amount of prep work that has to be done on chrome to get it to stick. (they gotta sand the hell out of it)
Why didn't they line-x the top part of the rear bumper and the bottom section of the front bumper.
I had my steps line-x'd and they line-x'd the rubber part also.
If they Line-X'd the rear bumper pads there would be no way to remove the bumper. The screws that mount the bumper to the bracket are underneath those pads. And if I had them spray the front valence panels and something were to damage themI'd have to replace the whole bumper and have it resprayed or I'd have a LOT of work to do to cut out the panels. This way I can just replace the valence panels.
I know it looks a bit off with the color but this was before they get washed and detailed. I gotta let the Line-X cure for 24 hours. Then I'm going to wash the truck and hit the plastic with some back to black. Later on down the road I may have those things painted, but thats a big maybe.
That's awesome. I have been thinking about getting my lower body panels line-x'd. My truck is red and the lower half is silver, wanted to get it line-x'd black, I think it would look better and not to mention protecting it from the damn rocks my tires kick up.

Yeah that may be a project for down the road. I've seen a couple trucks that have had it done and it looks awesome.
I really like that look Riggz. But I wonder, maybe from someone who has had that treatment for a while, how is it to clean off the bugs? With the Line-x texture it seems like that would be difficult on a front bumper. Would require a bristle brush for sure.
