just cruising around and noticed there hasnt been any action in here for quite a while so i figured id drop everyone a line. What does everyone love about flatties? For me is the nostalgia mostly. These motors are so rugged and cool its unbelieveable. Nothing looks better than a flatty all polished up with a huige blower just a whistling away. O baby!

For me all about showman ship and actuall uniqueness, If your creuisin around in a 48-53 Ford pickup everone expects to see a small block in it, gives me pride I guess.

Well with the end of summer com'n I think I'm gonna try and rebuild the old Flathead 6 I have. I found a source for a flathead V8 here local but the guy gave me the run around on it. They Guy has a 48' tonner or 1 1/2 Box truck rotting away in his yard...I stopped and talked to him bout it and I couldn't believe what he told me.... He only wants the Box off the back and had a friend that wants the Body parts... but he doesn't have a clear title from the guy who put it on his property. I know its been sitt'n there for at least 8 months ( that is how long I've lived here) Just hate to see some'n like that going to waste. Ok I'll stop ranting.... LOL I'm think'n bout getting this book I saw on hot rod'n I6.. from the fifties. I dunno. I'm sure I'll have lot of questions when I dig into my engine...
well i just bought a new oil pan and timing gear cover, so off tho chrome and polishing and maybe get them installed this winter on my 239. Also got word of a 255 crank, so might be making a 255. I still have to make some phone calls, but we'll see what happens. Thanks Snowking!

Well I haven't got anywhere yet..with the start of school ... the money is really tight..(getting the Kids ready for school)soo hopefully I'll be able to start do'n some'n in a few weeks.. Just don't know if I should wait and buy the whole rebuild kit from Kanters, or if I should by the parts from ClassicAutoparts....I'm worried that the parts from Kanter won't work...because it doesn't specifically say Flathead 6 "G".. I'm just wonder'n what you guys' thoughts would be on this?
I love pulling with my flathead powered F6 check out my gallery for a pick of me hauling a 3020 John Deere and 7ft bushhog. the Tractor and trailer pobly weighs in at about 15-16000 lbs. Top end was 50 but man is it cool hearing that thing under a load and doin it old school. Anybody can buy a new truck, it takes a real man (real stubbern) to drive in 100 degree heat with no AC and a set of straight pipes exiting behind your head.
