Hi, I just joined the site and tried to search my answer but couldn't find it. I'm planning on buying my brother in laws 1981 f100 with a 3 speed that he's had for the last 20 years. I was wondering what was the last year of the "3 on the tree"? I beleive Ford was the last to use this in North America and this is the only 1981 I have ever seen with it. Thanks
Welcome to FTE . Thats about it for them although I had a 84 parts truck that had 3 speed that had been converted to floor or had a older column put in it. Hey the trans could have been a redo .Dont know forsure was parts truck . Later.
The owner's manual of my '85 lists the shift pattern for the three-on-the-tree manual transmission. So going off of that, it looks like they were available in 1985.
I will say that I personally have never seen one in anything made after the early-80s though.
ive seenan 83 my dad owned former state truck not a bad tranny hauled a ton of stone out of a mountain no problem just shift corectly he sold it to my cousin and within a month he blew the tranny normal driving
shows what these things can do
