Hey no problem. Just wasn't sure if you'd changed your mind or not. The trucks running and all I'm just looking to do some improving. So when you get the info I'll be ready. Pretty excited about it!

Pipeplug,
I got a brand new intake manifold for my '85 w/ the 300-6 from Berge Ford in Mesa, AZ. Expensive, but worth it. Sanderson Ford in Phoenix is also good for specialty parts. Do you have emissions testing in Tucson? If you do, that's something to consider before doing any drastic modifications. Emissions standards are quite strict here in the Phoenix area. Good luck.

Yes we have emissions here too. Loads of fun. I'm not wanting to modify per se. What I'm trying to fix is a very loud vaccum whistle that starts around 60-65 MPH. I've already replaced all the gaskets in that area (exhaust, intake, carb) twice and I still have it. I've had two mechanics look at it and they both think the intake is cracked, which, it is right were a bolt/washer holds the assembly to the head. Very frustrating. The full story is when I hit 60-65 the whistle starts, if I accelerate it stops only until I stop accelerating then it just continues at a steady tone. Then when I exit the expressway it continues at lower speeds for approximtely 1-2 minutes then just quits. Sometimes I have to bump the throttle the help it stop a little sooner. In town no problem. When it's on it's extremely loud, very embarrasing to tell the truth.
Any way how much was "expensive" if I mught ask?

for those of u wondering about how to get 850 ***** outta a 6 its simple u need close to 27,000 grand and the time to do it >> basics custom dual sparkplug head( by drag concepts and designs) with 2 and a half inch priamries the entire msd ignition>> timed for alcohal burning lol!! heck yes with well the optional 350 psi total of NOS ( u can only run twice before u **** it all up with that**
a quad 4 on 4 sheet metal intake ( 2 quadrajets and 2 4 barrel holleys for the primaries)
and well the best part of it all a tri turbo setup to provid the air for the massive carbs

3 *** cummings turbos < i found the manifold off of an old turboed 300 industrial 6 and just went from there

and after u find a c6 tranmission up to a little modifcation
u do the rear end and watch it rumBLE

Whoa! Very impressive! Unfortunately I have neither the time, money, or no how to do that. Sure would be fun though! What do you do with the truck? Drags, mud?????

Price of manifold from the dealer; I have to look around for the receipt. I'll get back to you.

Pipeplug,
I found the receipt from the dealer. $478.00 for the intake. This cludes new
gasket, bolts, washers, tax. Does NOT include installation. There you have it! Liike I said; expensive. But to me, it was worth it. The motor sounds like new! Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I liked the part about "does not include installation". If push comes to shove Offenhauser sells an aluminum aftermarket manifold for around 3 bills. Might take that route.

Is the Offy manifold for the 1 barrel carb? I thought about putting a 4 barrel in my truck, but there was the issue of hooking up the the emissions equipment. That is why I did not do it.

Looks like you can do whatever you want. The one I saw has emission hookups on it. Says you can block them off for competition. I even saw one for FI. Here's the link for the carbed ones;

Prices aren't that bad for the Offenhauser! Are you going to keep the 1bbl or are you putting a larger carb on your truck?

Well if I take that route I'll probably stay with the 1bbl just 'cause it's an old motor and I guess I try to stay away from the wrenches as much as possible if you know what I mean. I hate working on vehicles. I use to like it but not anymore. I only do what I have to do that's only because I'm cheap!

Pipeplug,
When it comes to my truck, I too don't like to get too deep into it. Fifteen years ago, sure, I just don't have the time any more. Plus, it's been too hot around here, as I'm sure you know! Being that mine is not a daily driver, it is sitting right now as the linkage on the carb needs to be looked at. I just rebuilt the carb and it idles WAY too high, like 2500 RPM! Even with the screws backed out. Anyway, good luck with your truck. I had both manifolds on mine replaced as they too, were cracked.

southern magic I'd like to see pictures of the six, did you have it tested on a dyno or is 850hp just an estimate?
