Hey guys,

What's your take on this truck?

I've seen it at a local dealership, and might trade in my 1996 F150 for it.

Any info would be great.

What are you looking for?

Of course, we will all sing praises about pretty much ANY F350, CC, V10 without seeing it. But is that what you really want?

There is a checklist on another site that is used for someone to inspect a truck prior to delivery. It might be good to get that checklist, go and inspect the truck and ask any question that you might have here.

Here's the link...[link:www.ford-diesel.com/faq/1999faq/General-NVC.htm|Checklist]

I would make sure it has the 4.30LS rear end. Also, did you know that the F250 with the LT265 tires is pretty much the same truck as an F350?? No kidding.

V10 GUNNER

You might want to go to this site to see the difference in what the F-350 is rated to do compared to the F-250.

"the same as an f-350"

Au contrair, (spelling?) there are diferences in the brakes, frame crossmembers, and I believe other driveline differences. Others may know more specifically.

Others do. There's virtually NO DIFFERENCE. The info is on this site. The ONLY thing that can be found is .02"(?) in spring thickness and +300 pounds(?) at the spring pads.

Motor, tranny, front end, rear end, brakes, frames are all THE SAME!!

People have surmised the reason the GVWR is different is tires only. Even the CGVWR is THE SAME!!!

Yup, on paper the F350 is rated for an additional 1,100 pounds. But the only difference is the 10-ply tires, rear blocks and the "stinking" badges. I think if you really need a truck bigger than an F250 w/ 10 ply tires- its dually time

But, you know the F350 badges are pretty cool

Hey V10 GUNNER,
I was going to go for the 250 but had to go to the 350 to get one particular option.I was after a V10 6spd.manaul trans.with a 3.73 LS axle.
They don't offer it with a manual trans.Who the hell knows why?I could have it with an auto.I could have a 3.73 regualar axle manual trans or 4.30 regular axle or 4.30 LS axle manual trans. So I paid a little more and got a 350,V-10 6spd man.trans and a 3.73 LS axle.

Go figure?

BTW.the 3.73 does just fine behind the V-10 with the 6spd.manual.I've got the granny low and since it's a close ratio 6spd. the engine is always in it's sweet spot when needed. No big jumps in rpm's between gears.

Wish I had the 6spd. behind my old 460 it's got a hole between 3rd and 4th gear with it's 5spd.manaul trans. The Banks Pwr.Pk does help this situation though.

Hey, thanks for your help guys,

I'm hauling a 3 horse gooseneck trailer with it, approximate weight of the trailer would be 3200 lbs.

I'll let you know if I decide to scoop up the V10 .

I think your right on about that 350 badge. I know I'm going to be really "LIKENIT" if I'm ever in an accident pulling my "5th Wheel".
I also know I'm going to like it a lot when the weight stations start pulling us over to check our GVWR.
It's going to look like a big F-250 used truck sale at the "Weight Stations". Buying F-350's to trade for 250's, so people can get on their way and out of the "Coups", will be better than investing in the stock market by a long shot.
The more I look at that F-350 badge with no 4 WD, long bed, or smoker under the hood, the better it looks!

Yea the 350 badges are cool but is it cheaper to buy the 250 and then switch the "stinking" badges???

DO pick ups go through weigh stations???? Besides, The GCVWR is 20,000 on ALL the 250's and 350's. So unless they're making you unpack your load and weigh the tongue/pin of the trailer I'm not getting it.

I understand the weight in the bed/cab capacity is "greater" with the 350 but I've never seen it challenged on the highway.

You'd still have the door stickers to worry about.
