Yes @ 65 mph, at 70 to 75 it drops to 15mpg...We arnt in a big hurry so we run 65 and most people pass us. We tow at a steady 60 mph with a 34 ft. airstream behind @ about 7500 lbs and get 10 mpg. i can maintain 55 going up the hills on I-80 out here in Nevada and have passed Ford diesels towing trailers about the size of mine. So it sure has enought power on tap. I wasnt interested in a diesel with all of its issues, noise and smell. An oil change cost me about 30 bucks. The V-10 will tow just fine in my humble opinion.

I wont be doing a lot of towing anyway, mostly the kids, dog, etc. on occasion the boat or motorcycle trailer. What year did you have again? What gears are you running? What does the V10 take, 6 qts of oil?

Just got back two oasis reports on a couple of 03's. Both had many problems when new and both continue to have problems, one right up to the month of June, the other, March. I will not buy an 03, unless it has the 7.3. JMHO.

I don't tow but I have the same experience as Bing-Bing with my v-10 getting in the 16mpg range on hwy at 65-70 mph range. Take it above 2000 rpm and mpg starts to go downhill. I get 12mpg or so around town depending on if I am stuck idling for extended periods. I just bought my 2000 Ltd., 2wd in April for under $12k with 78k miles and one owner. The cost for a diesel was so much more I figured it would take ages for me to break even in cost difference. BUT, I don't tow anything. I say thats the biggest factor in buying the diesel. It still seems that alot of people are content to pull with v-10 and unless you pull all the time the diesel may not be worth it. All this is in IMHO as most of us would love to have a diesel but I could not justify the price difference.

Being able to run my truck on 100% soy bean oil as i currently do is another one of the major reasons i have no desire to ever own another gasoline powered vehicle. Not only an advantage in fuel economy, but fuel flexibility, durability, longevity, and the huge grin on my face while driving a vehicle with this much power : ) The more people taking an environmentally responsible stand, even sacrificing with their wallet on the lot or at the pump, the better the future of automobiles. At least with a diesel, there is the possibility of being independently fuel sufficient on WVO or SVO.
