got a road maintenance job. Be gone for 3 weeks. I wont know if Ill make the sept.14th meet till the first week of september.
I had to do some major suckholing to get this job, they gave me a labour position to "prove" myself before I got on any equipment (they saw my driving abstract ) lol doesnt depict me too well. So Ill be up there running a rake and shovel for $20 an hour for 21 days weather dependant.
any pic requests be in by the early morn, heading through the pine pass up to Dawson Creek, then FSJ, and up the alaska highway about 4 hours to the camp 40 min northwest of Fort Nelson....Ill try n get some good pics of my Rusty Bronco BC Adventure
The cool part is I'm heading home tomorrow. This shallow gas work is hard on a guy. I will be picking up Trinidad # 64 here next week just north of Grande Prairie.
you got that right, north....west.....east....south...and any combo of em! theres lots of work in GP as well but its EXPENSIVE! so Im going to be moving out into the county somewhere...like hythe. 1/2 hour from GP and 1/8th the cost lol
I grew up in this area. Spent all of my life here. Going into G.P. used to be a treat when we kids. Grandma had cable, that was a big deal 25 or 30 years ago. I can't stand the place now. I live out in Rycroft, we are starting to get the spin off from town getting so big. My nieghbor sold his house in G.P. and moved out here made nothing but money. Even at $1+ for fuel you can buy alot of gas with $200,000 profit on the house he sold.
thats for sure! how long of a trip to GP is it from Rycroft? and how long to Spirit River?
I timed hythe from GP doing the speed limit took 31 minutes....and took 7 minutes from hythe to beaverlodge where theres shopping and banking. Not bad at all and its a quick rip to GP to load up on supplies or go to work.
Pud why not take your rifle with you up to Fort Nelson? You say there will be some time off you could maybe bang a moose take it to Fort Nelson to be frozen and bring it home when you leave the job. Anyway enjoy your time up there i really like that country.
I'm starting my move to Burns Lake October 1 will be going back and forth from the Lower Mainland a few times starting this weekend. I got a draw for any bull moose in 6-05. It's open between Sept 10-24. I want to be there early and hopefully get an easy one.
