Looking for a new truck should I pass on the 6.0?

Ive had two 7.3's so far and Im about to trade in my 2000 7.3. I cant realy afford the 6.4 but with all the problems Im not sure Im ready for the 6.0. Is there a specific year that they seem to have fixed most of the major issues like motor seal leakes and bad turbo's or is it just part of the 6.0 saga? I would like to stay with ford but I cant seem to find a low mile 7.3 and am a little nervous about the 6.0l. also is there any problems with the trans like weve had with the 4R100? Thanks for any insight.

i have a 2004 6.0 and love it....i would say look for some 6.0's, just make sure to get an oasis report on it b4 buying anything. if you take care of it, it will treat you right.

Nope, buy one, and love it. I will say, 03's were really really really rolling your dice, 04's a little better, and 05-07 have been Great. Personally, I would look for an 05 or newer if you can afford it, if not, like mentioned make sure you get an oasis report on the truck if its 03-04.

love the 6.0...2006, no problems, only 1200 miles on it now, but 17mpg around town and highway, 15 mpg and 14 mpg with truck camper on. Plenty of power going uphill with camper, and no diesel fumes at any time. Quiet on the road. Sweet!

Get an 05 or newer, might stay away from 03 and 04 since alot of them had issues. Mines been great but there were some bad apples. Get an oasis on whatever you find and testdrive it hard to make sure its running right. If you end up buying we'll feel you in on some helpful tips to keep it running strong and healthy

Love my 04 6.0. I bought it when it had 32000 on it and I've got 89000 on it now with no major issues. However I did get the Oasis report before I bought it. Its a great truck. I pull a 32' travel trailer with it and don't even know its back there. I change the oil every 4000 miles and make sure the air cleaner stays clean and I have changed it once in 57000 miles. Fuel filters are changed every other oil change. I treat her right and she does the same for me. Buy one you'll love it.

Get the 6.0. I have an 06 and so far its been amazing. For what I use mine for, and the abuse it has taking, its absolutly amazing. I wouldn't trade this truck for the world.

I have over 40k miles on my 05 and I would recommend highly an 05-07 6L PSD! The only issue I've had with mine was a minor oil leak, but nothing was hitting the ground. I get better fuel mileage than I did with my old 7.3L and the power is much better. I like the 05-07 not only for the reliability, but also for the new front end. Do get the Oasis report and enjoy the truck.

My 05 is the perfect truck. I beat the crap out of it and it can't wait to go again. If I loved it any more, I'd be sporting a woody the whole time I was behind the wheel.

voodoolord,
enjoy your new truck and check out "the diesel garage dot com" and "the diesel place dot com". You'll find a lot of help at those sites.

When I opened the door I can say I was pretty well floored. This truck has every option that Chevy has including the leather captains chairs, its like the king ranch of chevys, every option you can get and the lift is awesom not to mention the $3000 wheels the 1500 of new tires and the $4000 he spent on the lift, its smokin. Thanks for the replys.
