98 Mustang 4.6GT into 1950 Ford F2

I have been offered a 98 4.6GT engine and transmission with all the looms and computers. The package has done less then 4000 miles. Has anyone swapped these into an early model pickup. What other parts would I need to complete it and would it be worth doing?

It sounds like you've got all the parts to do a retrofit. I'd definitely give it a shot.

It's the differen't swaps like this that get your truck noticed. I saw this same setup in a 49 merc. That was a killer looking ride. I'd say it's worth a shot. It's always nice to see someone actually putting Ford engines in their Fords.

I have now bought the engine and box. Also I can have the pedal box etc. Everything is either stainless or billet. It was a bargain at £1500.00 (around $2400.00). Plus I can pick over what ever else is on the car, was thinking of having the rear end as well. My other choice of engine was a small block chevy. But decided to keep it all Ford.

is the F-2 wider than the F-1? I saw a 49 a few years ago with a 289 wedged in. The guy told me he couldnt get the engine in or out with the heads on. The 4.6 is MUCH wider than a 289. Unless you do a frame off and set the body down on top of the engine I dont have a clue how you would ever get it in. But it sounds like a good swap especially if you add a blower.
