Less than 2 weeks to go before a big emergency vechicle show and meet and my 1971 C900 Ford/Howe pumper just lost its water pump on the 534cid engine. Not to worry right? Wrong!
Napa Auto Parts tells me 2-3 weeks for one from the manufacturer. Are they kidding? I cannot keep pulling over and lifting the cab to ad 10 gallons of water and will miss the meet otherwise without a new water pump.
I know the 534 V8 engines are obsolete but this is scary to drive this Fire Truck far from home if it will need to sit on the side of the road for 3 weeks waiting on a part.
Does anyone have a line on new and/or rebuilt engine parts in-stock (specifically a water pump!) for the original Super Duty engines?
last time this happened to me, I was able to buy the "wrong" water pump( right housing--wrong fan hub) Pressed off the old hub and pressed it onto the new pump. It's still in operation. Country boys can survive!
I've got a couple of super duty 534's for parts. One has vary low hours on it runs but has a cracked block. The other was pulled from my boat was siezed when I purchased it.
will sell or trade both engines for token fee . some new gaskits included

Hi what pump did you use? I have the same problem, I need a water pump, but our napa has nothing and is not intrested in helping look for one. I am always looking for a good parts supply if some one knows of any
