My '03 Escape XLT has just decided to start falling apart. All of the door panel vinyl inserts are peeling off. The foam backing is failing. I thought that maybe the car was rained in, but now all are coming apart.
The car sits outside in the Florida sun most of the time. Anybody have a similar problem?

 

No, but it sounds like a combination of high heat and moisture collected inside over a period of time. An interior shop may be able to give you some ideas on an inexpensive way to fix it with adhesives that they use to to re-model old vehicles and ones damaged by weather elements.

 

The crappy material surrounding my door handles, don't know if it is vinyl, leather, or pleather, but it is crap, and it has been loose and falling off almost since day 1. It is an 05. I think I am going to take it off completely and use it as a template with some funky looking fabric and install it with a very thin foam backing and spray adhesive.
