Post What is the difference b/w the 5.4L in the E-series & F-series?

I posted this in the "1997+ F150 and E150" message board to no avail, so I thought maybe someone here could help me... I own a '99 E-150 Club Wagon with a 5.4L. There are a ton of aftermarket parts for the F-series, however it is nearly impossible to find parts for my E-series.... How similar are the two engines? What types of components are interchangeable? I am looking for an increase in performance. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

there is no difference in the F or the E 5.4's. Most aftermarket performance parts wont list the E'series because there is no market for it. Anything you want will probly work as long as it has the space for it. I've seen a van with a 5.4 and its tight under the hood. I dont know what you want to do with it, but most hard parts will interchange.

well, the exhaust systems are different. The Econoline vans have a more restrictive exhaust system due to the confines of a much tighter engine compartment.
