K & N filters are out..

last time I checked, Motorcraft is Motorcraft. Walmart sells the same Motorcraft part that the dealership does, but its half price, explain that? I guess that Mobil 1 full sythetic oil that wally world sells is crap too? I would have purchased it there if it was not sold out.
Also unless i can't read, my 07 expedition with the 5.4L doesnt have a turbo, just a crappy 6 speed transmission that ford can't figure out how to get it to shift correctly. going in tomorrow for the third tsb update, hopefully this one will do it.

At least go to a reputable parts store and get parts for your vehicle! I know we at the dealer a lot of the times are more expensive, (just so you know, not always, always check) but at least buy a good product.

I am not sure that there is any difference between a Fram air filter bought a WM and one bought a NAPPA. Just a difference in price.
I have bought Fram filters before at WM and not had a problem.
Many stores handle off brand filters so I dont know about these.
There was a web site that tested oil filters and there were many suprises. Sometimes the cheaper filter came out better in the tests than the more expensive ones, sometimes not. Some had just a cheap paper filter element in them that really did not filter much before tearing apart.
Kand N oil filters and yes Ford, were found to be right up at the top, Wix at the bottom and Fram in the middle if I remember right.
As far as warranty goes It has been my experience anyway that the manufacturer, car, truck, dish washer, toaster, oven, lawn mower, what ever, look for any way they can find to say the customer voided the warranty some way or other so as not to pay. It's all about the money.
So I would not be one bit suprised that "K&N filter and a dusted turbo = customer pay!"

Carbon M ask for TSB07142 when you take your 07 to the dealer.
It seemed to fix my six speed automatic shifting problems, for now anyway. It still get's confused what gear it wants to be in during a down shift sometimes, but at least it don't start out in second gear then downshift to 1st from a stop anymore like it did before. So it is an improvement.

Newton, does your expedition or did your expedition shift poorly other than the 1-2 2-1 shift or alll the way through. About 65% of the time mine jolts you forward when stopping. Also about 65% of the time when you go to accelerate it is delayed and then it feels and sounds as if I am driving a manual and redlining the engine in every gear, the fan sounds if it is going to take off. I hope you are right and the 07142 fixes things, its a shame ford produced this expedition and doesnt have a real fix for it.

Carbon M I dont have a copy , but that is the correct TSB#. or at least what was on my work order. May be your dealers service department really is not aware of this and is using some other program. Sometimes using a different dealer helps.
The problem I was having was that the 07 would start off in second or third gear from a full stop then down shift to 1 st. so you get this strange lurch at every stop sign.
That TSB07142 or what ever they did seemed to solve the problem. Now it shifts 1 thru 6 like it should but gets confused some times on a forced down shift searching for the correct gear.
I have learned to just let it do it's thing, until it finally figures out what to do and gets going.
You would think after all the millions and millions of automatic transmissions that Ford has built in the past, that they could get it right or at least close to right by now. Guess not.
Wished it had a E4OD, like my old 5.8 94 Bronco had.
This transmission worked flawless for over 100,000 miles.

Ok, I received my K and N filter 33-2385 for 07 Expedition and Navagator (only) today.
Installed ok, no problem. Took it out for a "test" run.
Seemed to have a little more get up and go from 0-60 over the stock filter.
This is @ 7000 feet above sea level, so it is kind of hard to tell as at this altitude the engine is not operating at full power output anyway like it would at sea level. In any case at this altitude more air is better for engine operation.
The real test will be up over the pass on Colorado I - 70 where the engine is operating at almost full power @ 60 mph for several miles at a time going up grade from 7000 to 11000 feet. Will report more later.
