4.6L upgrade

4.6L upgrade
I'm going to put a 4.6L motor into my 86 4x4. I'm also going to swap the manual transmission and need to find a transmission that will work with that motor. The 4.6 is out of a Lincoln Mark VIII and the ECU is set up for an autometic transmission. Anyone know what transmissions will work with that motor and will I have to replace the 4.6 computer or chip to work with a standard transmission?

The 4.6L is a metric unit for displacement and without actually doing the conversion I think the displacement in inches is somewhere around 280 cubic inches.
The horsepower rating for the 4.6 in your truck is somewhere around 220. That motor has two valves per cylinder. The 4.6 that I've got in my Lincoln is a four valve per cylinder motor and puts out between 280 and 300 horsepower.

Did all the lincolns come with the 4 valve 4.6 liter?
