Where's the inflation spike for around 1980?......Didn't they have to invent a new term for that miserable time period?....(stagflation?)......High inflation AND low growth?......Wasn't there like 15% or 16% interest rates for 30-year mortgages then?....

I think Carter taught everyone what the word "malaise" meant.....

When I purchased my 81 F150, the interest rate for my truck loan was 20.99%.

Paid that loan off in 18 months.

That's true. It was one facet of the tech bubble. The dash to fix everything date related and get on board the Net before their competitors did... only they didn't know what to do once they got there!

Was there a uptick during the Daylight Savings Time thing? I know there was a flurry of activity at all my customers...

I'm still waiting for the DST thing to rear it's ugly head again in the Fall...

More than one Oracle product actually showed Y2K bugs again after the DST fix was put in place. Nice, eh? What a wonderful thing to see dates that should have said 2099 instead showing 1999... Ah, the wonderful world of editting stored procedures w/Toad... Gotta love it.

Oh, and one other thing to think about re:Y2K and DST. The software and hardware manufacturers that had to eat all that extra time spent coming up with fixes under the guise of "support".

My aunt and uncle lost their house back then. Well, not really sure, but I remember they had a really nice house one day, and the next time I saw them, they didn't. And they never really recovered. Sure, the place where they live now is paid off, but it took them a long time to get back to the black and above water. Even now, they are still just barely treading water.

Don't know. Would be interesting to find out the stats.

Can't be much worse than Oracle's PL/SQL. Gawd I hated it!
