Stereo question?

Stereo question?
I have a 2006 f350 and I am looking to hook up a mp3 player to my stock stereo. My stereo has a aux button but when you push it says something like no aux source. I was woundering if the stock stereo has an aux in on the back side. And if it does how do I remove the stereo to get to it. I will also be replacing the stock unit in a few weeks after my vacation so i will need to no how to remove it. Any help it appreciated. Thanks in advance

You need to buy a PIE adapter to use the AUX button. Do a search, been talked about many times.

The back of the stock deck only has proprietary connections on it. There is a CAN bus connector on the back of the deck which can be used with either an external CD changer or the rear seat entertainment found in Excursions. The P.I.E. adapter plugs into that CAN bus, and provides you with two (left/right) RCA jacks.
I have my P.I.E. adapter secured right behind the trash bag hook. A 5' 2xRCA to 1/8" stereo headphone cable is plugged into the adapter & fed out through the opening just below the trash bag hook. It's enough length to allow me to stick my iPod in one of the in-dash cupholders, or move it up to one of the center console cupholders. And, when not in use, I can loop it around the trash bag hook to get it up & out of the way.
Aside from plugging directly into the CAN bus on the back of the stereo, it requires a +12V & ground wire be attached....both are very easily found behind the dash.
And, when you want to use it, you just hit the AUX button on the stock stereo.
Simple. Easy. And no more RF interference from the moderately crappy FM modulators when I listen to my iPod.

No special tools needed and no need to pull out the cup holders. The plastic face of the dash is only held in by clips. You need to put the parking brake on tight, tilt the wheel all the way down and place the gear selector in 1. Just pull the dash face toward you slightly. Once you get it uncliped you will have to reach behind it and disconnect several wiring harnesses to any switches. Be aware that there are harnesses that are just hung on the back of the panel for accessories that you may not have, just unclip them as well. At this point you can manipulate the dash face up and out of your way. The radio is only held in by 4 7mm hex head screws and will slide right out after you remove them. I know I probably dont need to say so but just remember to be very aware that you have the truck out of park and take precautions so that it wont accidentally roll on you.
