Wal-mart oil ?

Probably has been discussed but is there really any difference between Shell Rotella and the Super Tech Wal-Mart brand 15W40 oil? Also, what about Wal-Mart's Super Tech oil filter? They had them for my truck when I was in there today for $6. That diesel guru guy that has his own website list Super Tech Wal Mart oil as acceptable. Just trying to figure out my options.

i dont like supertech oil period, i bought some 20w50 for the race car and it was garbage, as for the filters dont waste your time either, spend the 9.95 for the ford fl-1995 from walmart and you'll sleep knowing the truck is safe, as for the rotella, its ok, but the mobil delvac holds up better before foaming and its actually 40 cents a gallon cheaper

I have never seen any oil analysis (new or used oil) on the Super Tech Walmart oil, so I cannot say how good it is or isn't. I have seen analysis on Rotella T, Mobil, Chevron Delo, etc. so I use one of them. I have been running Delo 15W40 for the past year & a half and all of my oil analysis have been good. Also a little over a year ago Chevron started putting moly in the Delo 400 (this helps with oil shearing). I get all of my oil from my bulk fuel supplier (5 gal bucket at a time) and I have checked and it is cheaper than anything that Walmart or any auto parts stores carry. You might want to check out the bulk fuel suppliers in your area (they also carry alot of other stuff like fuel additives, biocide, greases, etc.)
I pefer Wix filters, due to there constuction and filtering. I can get them from my local NAPA (NAPA Brand Gold filters are made by Wix) for the same price as ordering then online from places like Fleet Filters.com. Just my .02.

It is interesting the price depending on where you live. Rotella-T is 1.00 cheaper per gallon out here than Delo 400. I have been running Delo, but I just switched over to Rotella-T cause it is cheaper.

Have you had any issues with the square cut O-rings on the Napa Gold's, or the Wix? I put a wix in, but kept the beveled cut o-ring in there.

The only reason I ask is that there are some who dont like the square cut o-rings claiming that unfiltered fuel can pass through the intake nozzle.

lol, you are talking about fuel filters, i thought we were still on oil filters, any way i have used both there too, the wix is an excellent fuel filter and much cheaper since walmart doesnt carry fuel filters for our trucks, autozone carries a filter, i cant remember the name but it comes with the cap and its in a red box...lol i know that helps, but for the cheapo filters it is a good construction and bargained at 14.95

the autozone filter is identical to the ford in size, at least mine is, i use the cheapo because i like to change my filter every 3rd oil change, also try the mobil delvac 15w40 next time and see if you feel a difference
