the 1300-1500 figure can't be right... the 6.0s start pulling more around 2k... their peak power is at like 3k??!?!?

you do the math.
The cummins 5.9 ISB 2006-7 (Can't find RPM numbers on the 6.7) makes 600 ft-lbs at 1600RPM, and 325HP at 2900RPM (still maintaining 588 ft-lbs..).

The 6.0 has 325HP @ 3300RPM, and 570 ft-lbs at 2000RPMs. After 3300 RPM, torque and HP will start to drop.

The efective RPM range on both engines is exactly the same. Except the cummins starts making power and peaks 400 RPM lower - better for towing.

The 5.9 and the 6.0 will both keep going forever at 2900-3000RPM, but I honestly would like to see how long a 6.0 would last going at it at 4100 RPM

Driver to passenger seat is always a different perspective, in the drivers seat you know when you are pushing the go pedal so you don't feel the power as much as a passenger. My buddies 06 Cummins will just barely beat my 03 6.0 of the line though

I dunno, the cummins has tons of low end torque but the one I drove kinda felt like it lost power once you got up around 2500-2600 rpm (it was a 98 24v) where as my 7.3 felt like it had a little broader power band. i've never driven a 6.0 or 6.4 so i can't comment on them, but from what I read on here they make there power 2k rpm and above.

Mine will snap your head back off the line, just don't mash on the pedal and you won't experience the lag they are notorious for

im not going to aurgue this.

im not talking about the area betwwen max torgue and max horsepower.

im talking about the begining of usable power thru power tailoff on top.

the 6.0 is deturned stock but is cammed to run up at 4K.

daily drive or tow with the engines and you will see what im talking about.

its double the effective spread and that is why it tows better and has better drivability.

That's what they make transmissions for. To keep your engine rpm's in the powerband. Torque gets it movin', horse power keeps it movin'.
My $.02 has me in a Ford truck for style and durability, a Chevy for the transmission and comfort, and a Dodge for the engine. However, that changes from year to year. Each company will make advances in their trucks that cause me to add, change, or drop a choice. All that said, I drive an '03 Ford.

The cummins always seem to be stronger at the sled pulls

The only way to make that comparison is to take a single truck and two engines, a CTD and a PSD. Make the test on one, change only the engine, and test the other. That's not going to happen. You might just as well throw in the D-Max too.

You might as well give the win to the powerstroke because the truck the cummins is in is junk

I don't pull sleds.
If I did, there would be no question about it. Get a Cummins or go home.
And it would arrive at the pulls on a trailer being pulled by a Ford Superduty.

Well Kwik, that about sums it up. You've put that as plainly as possible. However, the debate will rage on for as long as there are multiple engine makers.

I just finished 400 miles in six hours! From Riverside to Sacramento Ca. non stop cept for gas once. 450 miles to my farm or back is 7-9 depends if I'm hauling a load or running clean. i think you have to take a break and no more than ten hours driving so 616 is a cake walk for one driver but now if we have two drivers its even easier.
