A buddy of mine is in the market for a newer 3/4 truck. He likes the Fords and wants to get a diesel, but I keep hearing back things about the 6.0L. I was wanting some feedback from people who own them to see what kinds are problems they've had and if you'd buy a 6.0L again.

Own an 06 and love it. It has 18k miles on it and the only thing that went wrong was the speedometer issue. I love this truck. I know people with 6.0L's and all of them have been happy. They have had their problems. Tell him that the 06-07's have had a ton more success than the 03-04's. There are good 03-04's but if you are looking at one make sure to get an oasis report to see what it has been in for. I would definately buy another one.

 

DITTO. I had a 2003 and now a 2006 and the newer ones are bulletproof. If you look a bit you will see all the ones with issues are early 2005 and older! But there are tons of good 2003-2005 also just do an Oasis search prior to buying...

 

What is an Oasis search?

 

Look at 1st post here in the 6.0 forum. Give the VIN and you'll get a Ford repair history of the vehicle.

 

An oasis report is the history of the truck as far what has been done to it at a dealership. If anything has been done like my instrument cluster replacement, it will show up on the report. Any flashes the truck has had or warrenty work that has been done will show up on the report. That way you have a pretty good idea if the truck is worth buying or passing over. There is a thread at the top of the 6.0L forum that you leave the vin of the truck you are looking at and one of the guys that have access to the reports will get the report to ya. You can have the dealer look it up also.
