I want to remove my spring and shock perches to get them chromed. They are pop riveted, I'll just grind them off. What I wanna know, can I just bolt them back onto the frame with, say, a grade 8 bolt of proper size, or what is the proper procedure??
thanx.

Yes you can re-mount these pieces with grade 8 hardware, no problem. However its not really a good idea to chrome plate suspension pieces due to hydrogen embrittlement. If your working on a show truck this is probably not such a big deal but for a daily driver I would suggest painting the pieces.

My pickup won't be strictly show or driver, but I want the undercarriage to clean and shiny. It is my toy, so I won't be driving it very much(weekend warrior), is the hydrocarbon embrittlement a fast thing, or just to be avoided altogether?? What about powdercoating?
thanks again.
