Volare torsion bar adjustment

Have a Volare front clip in our '55 Effie. What is the procedure for adjusting the torsion bars ? So far just tried taking out the slack and tightening X amount of turns. Thanks, Joe

What is it you are trying to do? Jacking the front end of the truck off the ground, supported by jack stands, tightening the left nut will raise the right side of the truck, and vice versa. Loosening will lower. Does that help?

Don't forget to get an alignment after you make your height adjustments.

Leave some travel between your front stoppers. I got about 1 1/2 of travel. Been cruising like that for couple of years. Front bumper 7 inches off the ground. Doesn't take much to cause alignment problems.

I know. I love his truck. Its like the "after" of mine. LOL

However, I would bend that bumper really bad around here. Too low for the way I drive where I drive.

I just love big windows. I wish I had the skill to put the BW kit in my 55. I gotta be honest tho.. I absolutely love the 55-59 Chevy's too. The front end of those trucks is beautiful! LORD, I APOLOGIZE FOR THAT THERE, AND BE WITH THE PYGMIES IN NEW GUINEA.AMEN

Guess I'm doing it OK. Will have to adjust them after the truck is all together for hight / ride. Then align after that. Thanks all !

I have to bring this up again.i forget.
Do I tighten the screws to lower the truck or do I loose them,
I had the volare too low and I want to raise it a bit so I cranked the bolts/screws loosing them and the truck got lower.
So which is it.
Thanks guys

Tightening the torsion bolts ADDS torsion, loosening the bolts REMOVES torsion. More torsion means more ride height/stiffer.

Again, the left bolt affects the right side and vice versa.
