backup sensors??

On my F250 they are visible and imbedded in the rear bumper. Where are they on my 07 Expy?

actually i think they work better than the ones that were on my 05 explorer, plus you dont see them. They are really sensitive, they pickup stuff from at least 10 feet away.

I had mine installed at the dealer, and they are visible across the bumper.

since my neighborhood is loaded with 'little tikes on their bikes', I find it an invaluble addition to the vehicle.

If everyone remembers the original more expensive set-up was a "radar" based system. As time went on the radar based system ended up on Navigators in combination with ultrasonic (less cost).

The Expy was moved to sonic only alond with the Mountaineer.

I have owned 5 Expys to date and this one (2007 Limited EL) now employs the radar based system only .

Thus no visible sensors needed as opposed to ultrasonic.

In the case of a rear end hit the module behind the bumper facia is expensive.

Hope this helps---Bob

I'm a tad confused. Radar is ultrasonic. Both terms emit radio waves. So I'm not clear on the difference you are describing.

Radar is radio frequency energy where as ultrasonic is a very high audio frequency.

Bats use ultrasonic locating (even though sometimes you can hear it).

All I know is after you drive a rig with a camera back there, you can take all the ultrasonic radar BS and junk it. NOTHING is better than the camera. Why Ford has their head up their ..... on this I don't know.

Actually it's not that bad, if in some way we were able to incorporate a back up camera as well. I tend to agree with you that its not the best system out there. I do like at night though. Then again any system out there will have it's up and downs.

Any one install a backup camera in the Expy as of yet?
