Just Raced my Neighbors Cummins

He has an late 1990's -early 2000's body style 4wd extra cab with a Banks programmer, I don't know which one, and big exhaust . We were at a light next to each other and we were talking and when the light changed we were finishing our conversation and rolled slowly to about 5 MPH and then he jumped on it as the conversation finished. So I followed suit (or soot ). He had me by about 4 or 5 feet from the start and it never increased as we ran up to north of 70MPH and then there was a turn so we had to slow down. I think I surprised him. I will try and catch up with him later and see what he has to say. Made my day though.

Yeah, I hope. I doubt he was going easy. I hope he will say " I have never seen a 7.3 that can hang with me!" Or something. I'm sure he wasn't expecting me to go door handle to door handle with him.

At least he lives close and you know him. Maybe if he talks some smack you could get a rematch.

I think we may have to do that. I would like to see where we are from a dead stop with no turn coming up. I have to get that overboost annihilator first because I threw a code after racing him. The PCM defueling me isn't why I want to lose a race thats for sure.

Yes that would be a must have before going over to talk some trash for a rematch. What setting did you hve the DP on 120 or 140? I have the BTS burns and the highest one Cale put on was 120 so I dont know if the 140 is any better or just more dark skies left behind.

Sorry Totin, I have been away from the computer for a while. I used the 140 smoke setting.

Jason, i have come to find out that for SOTP power and not so much the SMOKE factor, the 80hp and even the 60 tow settings push you back in the seat more. Sure the 140 jumps when you change into the program, however it falls off on the top end due to "our" lack of ICP from a single hpop. The 80 econo calls for less pulsewidth from the injector, so while you are having less fuel injected, it comes out more forcefully with alot more ICP, and it gives you more power. I was driving around on the 120 setting the other day, and as i was switching back and forth from that and 60tow, i pulled away from a backroad intersection, amazed at the power (and shifting), and looked down, i was only in the 60tow setting!

So you think I would have done better in the 80 tow than even the 120 Race with my set-up?

I agree with kris. My truck launches harder in the tow settings then in the 120-140 settings. I'll launch in 40 tow and click to the 140 tune once I pull off the line. This usually keeps me pullin hard til that CEL comes on, lol.

Good to know. I'm really starting to wonder why I have the 120 race setting though. I mean I like the 140 smoke and in my mind, I don't want to leave 20 hp on the table if I'm racing, you know?

the race tune is all about boost. I can build 40psi quick in the 120 race tune. In the 140 tune it takes noticeabley more time to reach those levels.

I have to try it and play around with it on different settings. I'll try and stay away from the 140 when I'm racing though. The 120 does make a good amount of smoke too.

My cousin has a late 99' Dodge 2wd dually extended cab, and I can take him stock no prob. I am stock (except the 6637, and no muffler) he has a 5 position edge tuner. He has to turn it up to level 2 to keep up with me, and when he turns it to 5 I can stay with him till we hit 2nd gear. Then he slowly pulls from me. Can't wait till the dp so I cant smoke him (in more ways than one).
