Seems you have a lot of power to get to 100 Plus mph but as soon as you reach 100-105 a governor and something else kicks-in and kills all the power, so I guess you will never see the 125mph that the speedometer goes up to.
This is something I will never know either and glad to say so. After about 75 - 80 mph everything seems to be going by very fast of course may be your life too if something should go wrong.
Yeah...the tires aren't rated for much higher than 100. The engine can certainly pull a higher top speed though.

I believe every Ford truck that I have been in for the last 7-8 years is electronically governed to around 97-100 mph--and maybe thats a good thing. I can tell you it really isn't a confidence builder to be running 85-90 in a dually.

Just remember the Governor of some State, (I can't remember which one), was injured in a Ford SUV. The State Trooper that was driving, was going too fast, and had to make a emergency run around a slower vehicle, and crashed. The Governor was hurt, and was not wearing a seat belt. The Trooper was wearing a seat belt, and was not hurt too bad.

Wrong, he was in a suburban/taho or something chevy make's.
My X without the chip only goes 93 then holds that limit unless going down hill. With the chip in I have on an empty open road gone a good 110. Truck doesn't ride too bad. But as the others have said, I cannot imagine what you could do if a blow out occured. Oh I know. "put your head between yourlegs and kiss your a_ _ good bye. That's why on planes they alwasy show people putting their heads between their legs. That is to kiss goodbye.

i dont know if explorers are much different but I hit 110 in my 97 5.0 AWD....... it actually wasnt that scary. It wasnt much different than going 90 or even 80 for that matter. it was just plain fast........ out here in AZ most people cruise at 80 so you're not going to blow by people at 90 or 100

My exped (that I drive for the SO) tops out at 105 according to gps and my radar.
We tried to have the dealership to remove the governors on all of our expeds (so we could respond to calls faster and catch people on the hwy faster) but stealership said that it can only be done w/a pursuit chip or tuner (dont know if its true or not).

Mine rides amazingly well. These new tires make it seem like a sports car...but no way I'd be going that fast. Even when speed limit didn't exist (Montana or Wyoming?), I kept it to 70-75 mph. No need to go faster honestly

not true. they can enter the PCM programming and fix it quite easily if they know what they're doing.
any SCT X3 tuner can do this in about 10 minutes without even messing with factory tune as well
