I have no CLUE!

Ok here is the deal, I own a 1985 Jeep CJ7, and I love the Ford 302 V8. So I put the two together, every thing fit very well, it looks great. The only trouble I am having is that when the starter is engaged it does not touch the flywheel. The Motor is a 1974 from a Maverick, the tranny is a T18 4 speed. Thanks for any info you can give. Rod

Just a thought, I think they used different flywheel tooth counts on some of the 302's-might check a Summit, Jegs or P.A.W. cat. to see if they list the tooth count for the different models/years-168(?) and 174(?) seem to stick in my mind. Also make sure you have the correct starter for flywheel(manual) or flexplate(auto)-don't think the two interchange(starters that is!). Not to sure about this though, as I said, just a thought!
