what's best?

What is the best way(financially) to dispose of an old car/truck?

My 89 Aerostar has a bad tranny and I blew the motor. I wouldn't mind fixing the motor but that just fixes one major problem. So what would you do if it were in front of your apartment?

I've gone the donation/tax deduction route a few times, however, I believe the vehicle must be in running condition. In my part of this great US of A, some of the tow companies will give you $50 and tow it away. They then strip it of parts...gas tank, fluids, etc...and sell it to recyclers for a few hundred dollars. Then into the crusher!!!

Check out the cars for kids charity. They advertise running or not.
