5.0L Buildup

I'm currently collecting parts for a 5.0L buildup project for my 89 fullsize Bronco. Starting with a new block, probably going to convert the speed density system to mass air EFI to go with a Motorsport E303 roller cam. Does anyone know if this combo will work properly, as I understand it should. Planning to use the Motorsport Mass Air conversion, and the cam will change the firing order to 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. I really want to go to the roller with roller rockers but retain the EFI, and am wondering if anyone out there may have experience with this type of mass air retrofit. I'd like some input so I can know for sure before dropping the coin on the mass air kit.

That cam is the "standard" performance cam for 5.0 Mustangs. It's actually a Crane 2040 repackaged by Ford. Great HP from about 3500 all the way to the 6200 redline but, depending on how you're going to use your truck, it may not have quite enough bottom end. Take a look at the Crane 2030, also used in a lot of Mustangs (like mine) great midrange torque, pulls hard from 2500 to about 5200, then its done.

By all means go the mass air route with either of these cams, and get a set of better breathing heads (GT-40X small chambers are real nice)

Here is something to think about. A 351W cost about the same to build as a 302 and is a much stronger block capable of making much more horsepower. If you are going thru all the trouble and expense then why not go with a 351W? I did the 302 to 351W swap in my 84 F150 and have been very glad i went with the larger cubic inches and stronger block. Just something to think about...

The box that my E303 cam came in lists the 351W firing order "13726548" for that cam.
