I have a '73 351C I would like to install in my 1966 F100 2WD which had a 240 I6 in it originally.
1. Does anyone make motor mounts for this application or will I have to build them myself?
2. Will the motor bolt to the original 3spd tranny?
3. Should I change the gearing in the original rear end?

LAST EDITED ON 22-Sep-00 AT 01:56 PM (EST)[p]I put a 72 351 C in my 76 F-100 last winter. My truck originally had a 300 six cylinder and three on the tree. I was able to get the engine stands (towers, perches, whatever you chose to call them) out of a 302 truck (351M/400 also worked for me since they all have motor mounts in the same place). The 351C and 302 motor mounts are also the same unlike the M and 400s.
Now, I beleive I have read that they did not put the 302s in the 66s. If they did you would only need the engine stands from one of those and motor mounts for a 302 but......... PAW (Performance Automotive Wholesale) has a bunch of engine swap kits and I beleive I have seen a kit in their catalog for this appication. It should consist of engine stands and motor mounts. They have a web site that you can order a catalog from.
The 351C has a smallblock bellhousing bolt pattern like the 302s (and big and little sisters) and the 300/240 six cylinders so physically it should bolt to your tranny but it may require a different clutch/PP setup. I do not know as I also put in my C-4 at the same time.
What gearing do you have now? I have 3:25s with 29 inch tall tires and it seems to be a good all around setup although 3:50s might be better with the modifications I have. Best bet here is go with what you have for now and see what it feels like when you get the engine in and then go from there.
Hope this helps some.
