Heavy Duty f250 is starting off with a positive reputation.
I had the same problem with my 2005 F250. After 8 trys at the dealer and and them replacing alot of parts they discovered the fuse box was bad. Is your truck surging at low speeds and does the cruise control and the tow haul mode have a mind of their own?

I don't seem to be experiencing any problems other than the fault code.

Trailer brake command problems

I have a 2006 f250 diesel and i too am getting the trailer brake controller fault. THe fault comes on everytime the truck is started but can be reset. It will also come on if I manually operate the brake controller. The controller is operating properly and the trailer brakes work fine. I get the fault even when I do not have a trailer hooked up. I have checked the connections at the 7 pin connector at both the trailer side and the harness side and there is no sign of moisture or corrosion. I do not see the connection at the firewall that I have read about in other posts. I am guessing that the module needs to be replaced but I was looking for a way to test it. The dealer quoted me $505.67 which is full retail price. If it needs to be replaced I want to find a dealer that is more reasonable. Any suggestions?

Have this happening to my 06 F250 6.0 also. Just took it to the dealer and they told me it was the controller. Told them I would fix it myself. I am going to call some junk yards and try to find one. I will post back the results.

TBC Fault

What the dealer did in order to fix my 05 tbc fault
Drew Ford
1 Greased the connector on the rear of the truck
2 Replaced the gauge cluster, they said it had a bad diode
3 Replaced the master cylinder
4 Cleared the code right be for a long haul trip, they said it was left over because they did not clear the computer.

Limp Mode activated 150 miles from home and I started to lose break pressure on the trip, I went to Galpin Ford.
1. Diagnosed the entire truck and found Master Cylinder (Bad install job by Drew Ford) and bad turbo
2. Redid the repair of the master cylinder.
3. Replaced the Turbo(I did not even know it was bad)
4. Did something with the wiring on the firewall.
4. Sold me a new truck so I could finish the family vacation
5. Return the 05 in two weeks. Truck was stronger then it ever was.

Where you take your truck makes a HUGE difference in the quality of the repair.

So, what was the problem? Wiring in the firewall?

I initially thought that my Tow Controller was faulty, but I'm having second thoughts now. I've also heard that there's a speed sensor in the rear end that can cause this problem if it's faulty.

I sure would like to correct the issue without spending several hundred bucks at the Ford dealership.

TBC fault

Galpin did not want to bash the other dealer but It was the change of connectors on the firewall. I can't even see where they change the connectors.

If I buy a new controller will I still have to go to the dealer to get the fault cleared?

I think you aren't getting a response because nobody here has ever seen a TBC Fault message throw a code... or even "stick".

At the most, to reset the TBC and remove the "fault" you just have to restart the vehicle.

I get the TBC fault every time I start my truck as well ('06 F250 diesel). It's annoying. I have found that I can press the Odometer Reset switch once to clear it from the display, and it doesn't come back until the next time I start it up.

It also seems that the brake controller has stopped working altogether. There is no display on the TBC, even when I try to manually apply. This is without anything hooked to the system. I've never even used the brake controller!
