5.8 Supercharger
Is anyone using or Know someone who has installed a supercharger kit on a newer Ford V8 (fuel injected). I see Summit Racing is selling Powerdyne supercharger kits and was thinking about installing one on my Bronco.I'd be interested to hear anyone's experiences with these kits.

5.8 Supercharger
First of all I have NOT run a supercharger kit so I can't give you first hand information. But I am looking for a kit for racing applications and have studied superchargers/blowers intensely for the last few months. First of all superchargers are not that expensive when you consider what you have to do to a stock engine to get the same kind of power increase. Read a lot of posts on this site and you will see that guys are spending $600-800. just on headers and dual exhaust. Throw in a cam, intake and new carb and your close to what it would have cost you for the blower setup. Secondly when you install the blower you will not have to dissasemble most of the engine like you would for a cam, intake, etc. Thirdly when you want to run more power, add a little racing fuel or octane booster, change your blower pulley to increase boost, and hang on. Now I am simplifing a little but its still much easier to increase power than buying a bigger cam, etc. To get some first hand information I would call the blower companies and ask for some names of customers that would be willing to chat with you. Good luck, Deen

hey guys, thought i would ring in to help out on this thought. i helped install a powerdyne on a 94 lightning, very easy install, internally belt driven, very quiet, and his e.t.'s went from a 14.8 to a 13.6 in the quarter. now, paxton does not make a supercharger anymore to fit the 96 or older trucks, but powerdyne and vortech do. be careful that the powerdyne kit does not come with a fuel pump or an ignition box, both of which are good insurance to prevent disaster. the fuel pump is about $240 and the ignition box, if an msd is $320 from jegs, so if you add it up, the kit of $2199 plus the $240 and the $320, then you end up with $2759.00. then there s vortech, which comes with the fuel pump and the ignition box, which can be upgraded. there is a place having a group buy from vortech, only needing three more people to get in, which i am going to get in. the kit is $2500.00, and that is for an s-trim or an sq-trim, the sq being a lot quieter, for the same price. i believe this is the cheapest i have found it. i have looked everywhere, and no one can touch it. i am not affiliated with the company whatsoever, i just want to help fellow ford owners out. i ave the phone number, and the company is extreme motorsports out of chicago, and the man to talk to is brian. i have the phone and the email address if you wish to have it. i believe this is the way to go, and would be cheaper in the long run. any questions, feel free to ask, i would like to help anyway. good luck.
