Does this plate have the validation stickers on it ?
I just registered my 77 for the road but I have 3 sets of the 198? plates I already OWNED ..that I could use.
No problem with them.
However,Because those 1977 plates are Yellow
I would say NO to the 77 plates.
Even an Antique has to have the present style plates on it.
You can put the 77 Yellow plate on the front without a problem though.

Licence plates
53(1) Except as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall not do any of the following:
(a) operate or park a motor vehicle or trailer on a highway unless the subsisting licence plate issued for that vehicle or that is otherwise permitted under this Act is displayed on that vehicle in accordance with the regulations;
(b) display on a motor vehicle or trailer a licence plate other than a licence plate issued or authorized for use on that vehicle;
(c) operate or park a motor vehicle or trailer on a highway with an expired licence plate displayed on it;
(d) permit any licence plate issued to that person to be used in contravention of this Act.
(2) Every licence plate issued under this Act or any Act that preceded this Act remains the property of the Crown, and the person in possession of a licence plate shall return it to the Registrar when so requested by the Registrar.
I think this indicates you can use a vintage plate on your vintage vehicle
ANTIQUE VEHICLES
15 "Antique vehicle" shall mean a vehicle twenty-five years of age or
older and owned as a collector's item and operated solely for use in
exhibitions, club activities, parades and other like functions and not used
for general transportation.

16(1) An antique vehicle may only be operated as a collector's item for
transportation to and from and for use in exhibitions, club activities and
other like functions and not for general transportation purposes.
(2) Repealed AR 211/84 s14.
(3) Upon registration
(a) licence plates bearing the words "Antique" shall be issued to
the owner, or
(b) if the owner produces Alberta licence plates that were issued
during the year of manufacture of that Antique vehicle that are in a
condition satisfactory to the Registrar, the Registrar may approve the use
of such plates.
(4) Operation of an antique vehicle shall be confined to daylight hours
unless the vehicle is properly equipped with lights that conform to the
requirements of the Highway Traffic Act, 1975.
(5) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1) an antique vehicle
may be driven to and from a garage or service station for the purpose of
repairs and servicing.

I'll keep my eye out for the plate. Let me know how much and I will gladly send you the money. I am actually hopping on going down to the swap meet but just in case I can't make it I'd rather have a backup plan, that is if it wouldn't be a hassle.
How long you been in Innisfail? I went to college in Olds and lived in Didsbury and know a few fellers from Innisfail that I went to school with. Also know a few folks from Rimbey area too.
I kinda wished I lived in southern Alberta...closer to the old iron. Would make my build a heck of a lot easier for sure.

Well, im hoping a can get to the Red Deer one in May, i missed the last unfortunately. BTW, if anyone find a 1966 or 1965 (or both) I would gladly take one. Im in Olds now, but middle of May at the end of school I will be back North past Grande Prairie.
Too bad you're not looking for a 69 plate, I have one that is brand new (not like new, brand new) I've had it since I was a kid. Just thought it was cool as the number on the plate is SA-00-00 or "say ohhhh" is the way I look at it.
What kind of issues can a person expect to be critiqued when I go to get the truck registered, what will be looked at when the vehicle inspection is done.
