Talking 4-wheel hill with a 2-wheel drive

this weekend i took the boat to the lake. by the way the lake was full of dumba#####, but that is a whole nother story. i get to the boat ramp it was full of people that can't back a trailer or start their own boat, but that is a story for the fishing forum. this is what we normally do launch the boat drive around to 4-wheel hill thats what the sign at the lake calls it not me. take the empty trailer down set up camp then boat and fish, but the ramp was full and all the good camping spots were going fast so i went down the hill (cliff) boat and all. made it to the bottom with everyone pointing and laughing. we made camp and every jacka## with a 4-wheel drive came over and said when you get ready to get out i'll pull your ford up the hill (cliff). got ready to get out and told my pop if we can't get out you jump out and push, cause i am not going to be pulled out of here with a dodge or chevy. got to the bottom of the hill put it in low hole and just walked out like a mountain goat boat and all. i went up and down about a dozen times over the weekend no problems. but i did get to watch the same guys that offered me a pull hit the hill (cliff) ******* a## just to have to back down and get the tractor to pull them out.

my 2-wheel drive dually rocks and i mean ROCKS !!!!!!

p.s. by the way i did'nt offer any of the jerks a full pull up the hill (cliff)

Sweeeeeet!

Don't you just love boat launches? I have seen the best arguments at boat launches. One of these days I am taking a video camera to the boat launches so I can win some money on America's Best Home Videos.

ards

scott,

you are right on the money about the boat ramps and guys so drunk they could'nt hit the ground with their hat. i saw a drunk husband and wife fight one time. the water was rough, he got made cause she could'nt get it on the trailer, and kept yelling at her. she got pissed and nailed the throttle from about 100 yards out. first and only time i got to see a boat catch air and land on the cab of a brand new truck. buy the way the boat had dealer tags to. explain that to the insurance adjuster.

We see those people every weekend.

This past weekend was City Slicker Day at Lake Conroe. Lots of yuppies from Houston trying to back their trailers down the ramp. Trailers being backed onto the dock, trailers jack knifed, people slipping and falling into the water, people yelling at each other, etc. It was hilarious.

My wife and I have it down to two minutes or under and that is down the ramp, launch and out and the same for recovery. People always comment on how fast we are.

My wife is learning. I'm trying to be patient. I don't know what is better or worse, to teach her how to run the boat or to run the truck. It's a little more difficult with the camper on the truck, but its still not bad. But I know what you guys are talking about at the boat ramps. Most of the time we just launch from the beach.

teach her how to run the boat or to run the truck..[/QUOTE]

rad,

i back the boat in jump in and start it, my wife unhooks the strap. i back off pull up to the boat dock, she holds the boat. i run back over jump in the truck pull it up and park it run back down and we are ready to go. i don't want my boat on dry land or my truck in the water. i can do all this pretty fast. most of the time i can do it faster than two people one in the truck and one in the boat. when we get ready to load we just reverse it, but i have seen weman that could do it better than some men.

I let my wife handle all of the water stuff. I handle the truck as I would never want this to happen to my beloved Jezebel (my truck's name).

Notice the Aggie decal in the back window......

Scott,

that would make a really good Aggie joke, but it's just way to easy.

See the guy on the ramp? I think he's throwing up! I know I would be.
