new to diesels w many questions

i recently purchased a 97 250 ext cab long box xlt 4x4 7.3, i love the truck, but, its bone stock. ive read and read and browsed the web for hours. i have found there are many options and opinions for everything. im looking to get exhaust including the down pipe, intake, guages then a chip.

i guess im just sayin idk what the hell to get, if anyone has advice, pros cons, and where to buy, id apreciate what anyone has to say.

Well, you are headed in the right direction. I would start with intake and exhaust from Dale at Tymar. The intake for sure, but the exhaust is up to you as long as it has the 3" dp. Gauges, that's up to personal preference too. I run the Auto Meter 2 5/8 liquid filled gauges, but the problem there is I have to use single pillar pods. As far as chip, DP-Tuner gets my vote every time. Good luck to you man.

Welcome to FTE. If you haven't checked out this web site http://pages.prodigy.net/stevebaz/_i...az/index3.html do it now. There is a lot of good information there including instructions on the down pipe install.

I think you will be very happy with simple changes to your truck. I agree with the above, intake, downpipe for sure. I would also recommend a trans-cooler up front. I am a purist, and have left my truck ptreey close to stock.

I agree with everything above. intake, exhuast gauges then chip, call Dale at Tymar for intake and exhaust, gauges can be had alot of places. A good chip only comes from Tony wildman or DP-tuner. To fit the DP not much is needed to be bent. it will be easier than a body lift.

here are some links

Oh and Suber I am a "purist" also. My truck is purely better than it was the day it rolled of the assembly line! LOL
