I have a 2000 Ford Excursion with the 7.3 Powerstroke. Love the truck, but coming home this afternoon the truck shutdown on the highway. I plugged my Edge Programmer into the port and was given a PO340 Cam Sensor Circuit Malfunction. Any help as to cost and trouble associated with this message?

Most people call it the CPS located under the water pump held in with 1 10MM bolt and a clamp. I bought a spare on ebay for about $45+ shipping but the dealer will charge from $50 to 250 depending on where you go.
Improved <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1lace w:st="on">Cam</st1lace> Position Sensor (CPS) for 7.3L Ford Powerstroke and the International Part Number: IHC#1807339C92
Ford sells the same part you will have to look up the # I don't currently have it.
If you have a dealer make the repair it will probably be around $350. Do a search in the Diesel 7.3 forum you should find more information.

I have had my 2002 Excursion with 7.3L since it was new. I bought it in December 2001 and took advantage of the 0% financing.
Mine actually has few options. I would have like to have more but the 0% was only on things in inventory and the diesel Excursions were hard to find.
The two options it had that I didn't think I wanted turned out to be incredibly useful:
First was the backup sensors. A very useful feature on something as big as this monster. It makes it so much easier to maneuver and park.
The second was the power adjustable pedals. It makes it easy for my wife or I to drive the truck. They just broke but I wuill get them fixed soon.
The other option it had thatI wanted was the limited slip differential. I love that!
Good luck in your search!
