new radiator

my truck originally has a extrernal trans cooler, my new radiator has this built into it. they are on the bottom of the radiator. which is the incoming from tranny, which is the return to the tranny? im also will be using the existing external trans cooler along with the radiator. any and all answers greatly appreciated.

It does not matter - it is just a coil of tubing in the bottom of the radiator. The fluid does not care which direction it flows through the cooler.

I do suggest you connect it - it will help warm your tranny oil when working in the cold. It causes about the same amount of wear to run your tranny too cool as it does to run it too warm warm.

I suggest you add some pipe fittings and put a water temp gage in the circuit - just hang the meter to the bottom of your dash as if is was a aftermarket water temp gage.

It will monitor the temperature of you tranny fluid, which should run between 160 and 190 degrees. If it starts to climb it shows you are working the tranny too hard and should back out of the throttle before you damage your tranny.

IN the bottom and out the top is the usual way, this helps eliminate air pockets.
