wiring a signal stat 900

My 7 wire signal stat 900 needs a 3-prong flasher. Is there a special model/type that is required? I bought one from Auto zone but it will not work when wired using the diagram of ...
signal stat YELLOW to "load", Signal stat BLUE to "pilot" and the other is 12V.

I have to leave the BLUE un connected, and use that tab as GROUND, the YELLOW to load, and the other to 12+.
But it flashes too rapidly, like a bulb out.

(in other words the modern flasher tabs are marked Positive (+), Ground (-), And (L).

So is there a flasher model still marked "Load" "Pilot" and (+12V)???
What does "pilot" (the blue wire) mean???

"Pilot" is the indicator in the SignalStat unit (single bulb that moves with the handle, to the appropriate lens). Here is the official wiring diagram.

I would use this scheme:
Flasher (+) = battery
Flasher (-) = Load (yellow)
Flasher "L" = pilot = blue

The flasher isn't one of those electronic ones, is it? I don't believe they will work.

Different flashers have different load requirements. If it flashes too rapidly it's because you do not have enough load for that particular flasher. Try a different flasher or increase the load and your problem will be solved.

I hope that this is not off of topic to far but I was wondering if the signal-stat 900 can be used with my trucks stock 6v positive ground system. The signal stalk in my truck is an old "Yankee" with no provision for wireing into my trucks factory tail lights.
