yup, there is only about 4 inches between the axle and the bumpstop... not much room at all, which is why everyone is yelling "GET A 4X2!"...

Putting Excursion springs on your F-250 will lower your truck. If you got 4" of clearance until you hit the bumpstops, with the Excursion springs you'll have about 1". Get the Excursion's bumpstop, too. Many folks in the Excursion forum will trade you springs.

I'll try this again, this time with a little more tact. Keep in mind that a 4x4 is worth more than a 4x2, all else beeing equal. You could sell your ex and buy a 2 wheel drive version for less money, or find a newer one with lower miles for the same money. Think about it, if you don't use 4 wheel drive, what is the point of hauling around all that extra weight. With a 2 wheel drive, you would have less weight with potentially better mpg, the turning radius is probably tighter, and it would be easier to lower. The only draw back, is it may take more seaching to find a 2x4 ex with the options you want. Good luck.

the TIB front end has been around forever, so I'm sure a lot of stuff is out there to lower them... I know I've seen it done on rangers and such...

i thought about lowering my f 250 4x4, and djm had kits for the trucks, if you want to check out the web site or even stylin concepts has the kit, the only problem is it is for the 1999-2004, and i have an 2005, and there is no kit you can just buy, must be custom made or some other type of set up.

I've been looking to lower mine for a while. I use 4x4 to launch on the strip. Try launching at a drag strip with the weight of this diesel and you just spin the tires. Yeah, there's lots of guys dragging 2x4's. They've done custom suspensions with four linked rear ends and the works to make them hook. I still need my truck to work. Boat launches are way to slick without the 4x4. Getting down into the horse pasture through the mud would be very difficult without 4x4 as well. Some of us need 4x4, but not all the ground clearance.

Gotcha, the op said he does not go off road, he likes the look of a lowered two wheel drive, and he lives dowtown Atlanta where parking is a concern. I was just trying to point out that logically a 2x4 makes more sense than trying to lower his 4x4. Your situation sounds a little different.

Lowering his F-250 is as simple as swapping the springs with an Excursion (as stated before). Y'all shouldn't make it sound like a difficult thing to do.

It all depends on how low you want to go. The excursion springs might get you a couple of inches. Point being you can't go much further than that w/ 4x4

He originally asked about and F250, but in post 12 he says he drives an Excursion (his profile also says 2000 Excursion).

So maybe he was asking about his other truck or someone else's.

Bottom line is; if you want to lower an F-250/350 simply put on the Excursion springs.

Lowering my F250 4x4

I know I'm several weeks behind this post, but it is exactly the same situation I have. I use my 2002 F250 CC PSD for towing a car trailer and daily driving. I've got my son's car seat in back and it's a tough for the wife to lift him up in there. If the truck was a couple inches lower it would be a little better. I need 4x4 for the occasional midwest winters and to climb the steep grades on my property, but don't need all of the ground clearance. You mentioned installing Excursion springs. I'm assuming this would be 2x4 EX springs and not 4x4, right? If you know of anyone that has their stock springs available, I'm interested.
