Question Adding Cruise to a 2007 F150 - Help!

Went to a dealer today, and got a price on adding cruise to a 2007 F150 XL truck. First thing he said,is that it couldn't be added! Then posted something on the computer, and called me back, saying it wouldn't work. The rub is, another dealer said it WOULD, after checking my VIN #. (The reason I am not using them, is because they want $70.00 more for the same part #!) Can anyone tell me if I CAN add a cruise to my truck? The part number that I had was 4L3Z - 9A818 - AAA. I can buy this from a Ford dealer for about $156.00 which includes shipping. It is kind of a plug and play, requiring a computer Reflash, or so I have been told. Can anyone tell me if this is right, and know about how much the job should cost? More important, will it work? And, what do you know, that will work? Thanks to anyone who has input on this.....

Directly from FORD's accessory website:

Black Speed Control
Part Number: 4L3Z-9A818-AAA
MSRP: $165.93

Microcomputer-controlled system automatically adjusts the throttle to maintain your desired cruising speed. Fingertip controls are conveniently located on the steering wheel. Kit contains a black urethane steering wheel. Dealer installation required.

Fits:

I just had cruise control added to my truck yesterday.My Ford tech friend installed the switch/buttons kit in my wheel in less then 20 minutes.Afterwards he flashed my computer and I now have cruise control.He only charged me $100.00!
BTW,the part number is;

4L3Z-9C888-AAJ
Oh,if you are told you have to buy the whole steering wheel then you're getting bent over and............

Thanks All, After I posted this on the site, I contacted three dealers that said that it wouldn't work on my truck. Actually, one said that he had conflicting responses, so I called "Ford Motor Company Customer Support". Ford says it WILL FIT, so back to argue with the local dealers. Anyone remember George Carlin's bit on birth control? Now, it gonna be, "Ford" says ya gotta!

The only issue that (I think) the dealer is worried about is wether or not the wiring is there. A least that was the notion expressed to me prior to me buying the wheel. If I had issues with mine, I would have had to get the dealer to throw that section of wiring in for me. Otherwise mine went on without a hitch.

You do not need to buy the steering wheel!!!!!!!!!!!!
All the wiring is tucked away in your steering wheel! What is not there is in the kit!Again,this is the kit part number;

It worked on my '04 STX that came without cruise control. I was amazed to discover that the only thing that had to installed was a new steering wheel with the buttons on it. The tech had the computer connected to tell the system in the truck it had a new cruise control system added.

Worked on my 05, got the steering wheel off ebay, installed it myself, went to the dealer, they hooked it up to the computer, had cruise. Steering wheel $50, Deal cost $70 to turn it on, having it, priceless.

I am ordering the parts today, and going for only the switches, just as BlueOvalFitter suggested. Less than half the price of the wheel, even including shipping!

Talking Cruise ADDED - Thanks All!

Well, I got the cruise installed today, and it is great! Thanks for all for encouraging me, and pointing me in the right direction. Sad, when you have to tell the dealer what will work! My secret weapons, FTE, and a little call to Ford Customer Service Center! New switches, and installation, computer flash, $190.00, and I didn't have to worry about accidentally blowing up an airbag! Worth every penny to get my truck like I want it. ..........Thanks to all, and I did add rep points to you.......Now, if I could just find the right 17" alloy wheels..........
