Well the 04 Heritage will be different I think as it has some things from the 2003 models so I am not sure if everything here is correct.

Now as for the 07 model I heard recently that you can no longer install cruise control as it requires some sort of programing from a dealership and they are no longer aloud to do that programing. I would check with your dealer to confirm but that was what someone found out about a month ago.

LMAO! That is so much BS! Who told you that? I asked several of my Ford tech friends about this and they all said the same thing; buy the cruise control kit (no new steering wheel required) for about $50-$75,make an appointment at your local Ford dealership, have the kit installed and computer flashed, pay the cashier about $200, and then go enjoy your cruise control.

Bringing up an old dead thread but I found it and just wanted to say thanks for all the info. I just bought a 2007 F150 XL and its exactly what I was after except for the lack of cruise. I found the switches for $54. I'm waiting to make sure the wiring comes with them to hook into the wiring of the steering wheel, not sure if the switches are plugged in with removable jumper wires or if they are hardwired.

I do have one question Id like to clear up....

Do I have to take the truck to Ford or can I take it to a shop that has a programmer? I know a local guy that does body/mechanic work and they also build race cars and such so I'm sure he has a programmer and would be cheaper than Ford.

Thanks again for all the info.

If the switches are Genuine Ford/Motorcraft parts then they should go right in with no modifications.Everything (wires) is already in the steering wheel. Disconnect the battery, remove the airbag, remove the cruise control blanks, install switches, etc. Hook the battery back up and flash the computer.
I don't know about anyone else being able to flash the computer besides Ford. It's possible,i'm sure,if they know the code/codes to enter.

These are motorcraft but the pic is a generic pic not of the actual product so I'm waiting for an answer to be sure. From searching and finding pics and stuff I see the wiring inside the wheel to hook up to but in another pic of the switches on another site I see wires coming from the switches. Wasn't sure if these wires are permanent to the switches is all I was saying.
