Found It!!!

I finally tracked down the sqeak in the bed of my 04 Screw FX4!!! Now I can drive down the road with the windows down and not go crazy. Anyways I thought I would share it with you so that if any of you come across it, it is another place to check. My squeak was the tailgate moving on the bolts that lock it in place when closed. I lubed up the pins and the latches on the tailgate and it has gone away. :-)

Mine does it too. Seems that after a month or two it tends to come back. I keep a can of white lithium grease in the bed and just give it a shot everytime it starts doing it. That takes care of it, for a while anyway.

I had the same problem about 2 weeks after I bought my 04 FX4. That damn squeak was the most annoying sound in the world. It's the plastic cover on the bolt that locks the tailgate in place that causes the noise. Mine only happens on the driver side. Anytime dust got in there it started to make the noise.

Join the club. I just bought my 2005 and the exact some thing,I thought it was something with the suspension.I was ready to take it back. Just found it last night,it was the spring in the tailgate.Thank God!
