What lbs plates do you have?

Just wondering what lbs plates most people are using? I see everything from 6000 to 18 plus here in Missouri. I have 18 thousand right now, but when I get the gooseneck I'll have to step up to something bigger but not sure what all has to be done when out of state, I've heard that several states anything over 18 you have to go thru the wieght scales.

Wisconsin uses letters. It used to be that Class A was a 1/2 ton chassis and below, Class B was 3/4 ton chassis and Class C was 1 ton and above, but over the past 20 years or so the 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton and all have become worthless names.

Anyway, mine is considered Class C, which if I read the ruless correctly is the 8000-26000 pound class.

When I lived in Indiana, they put 7000 pound plates on my truck, same as a 1/2 ton.....never did figure that out.

Next plate up in MO is 24,000 lb, then 26,000. After that it's same as a big truck. Yes with 24k plates you will have to cross at weigh station. My neighbour here, runs 24k plates hauling RV's and he has to cross the weigh stations, talked to another RV hauler from MO Friday night and he runs 26k plates. These plates are both on Dodge 3500 DRW. I run 12,000 on my F350 DRW. When I was was registering it, girl at DMV told me I could transfer my car plates to this 1 ton. Wonder what she was smoking that day ?
I sometimes wonder if these girls at the DMV have a clue at what they are telling folks. Best thing for you to do is call Jeff City DMV. They are on the ball up there.

I know I will have to up my plate weight when I get a bigger trailer.

I'm running B class plates on my truck right now in IL. Never thought about it at all until I started reading all the threads on here. That is the plates my dealer did the paperwork for, so that is what I got. Anybody know if I should be running something different? My truck is only used for personal use.

Signs in Wisconsin say ALL TRUCKS OVER 4 TONS MUST STOP AT WEIGH STATION but I never see the stupid things open.

I run B plates in IL
B-truck license plates are issued to Second Division vehicles weighing 8,000 pounds or less.
the dmv site says nothing about towing

in IL anything with a gvwr of 10k or more has to stop at the scales

I am not positive, but I run D plates and have never been instructed to weigh at highway weigh stations. I used to drive a 14ft chevy box truck, D plate, commerical and didn't have to weigh it. I am sure the Il state troopers will pull any truck over they judge to be overweight or driving with wrong plates/weight classification

In Mississippi for my F250 there is a B-10 at the bottom of the tag. I seen higher numbers for other trucks like B-16 & B-24

That's the kind of stuff that worries me Jake. My trucks GVW is 11500lbs, and I'm running a plate that supposedly only goes up to 8000lbs.

if you have an F-350, you really should have D plates, not B
I bought my truck when the FED gov was "NO SALES TAX" for D plate trucks.
I have to pay $158 vs B plate $78 and I have to pay $25 every 6 months for a inspection sticker.

I don't know about the plate issue for louisiana, I know I have three different trucks that were bought from three different places with three different registered gvw's on the registration for the same spec truck. I am going to be looking into that in the next few months.
