I see where some people say white in winter grey in summer. Why is that? Instead of running to the store to read the difference I thought I'd ask here. White have anti gel or what?
Be careful using kerosene. In my area it's dyed red. They don't dip the tanks on private trucks too often, But if your hauling equipment or cattle they will check you.
Good call on the red. I almost always fid some red in my fuel for some reason teeheehee.
Do you mean you can use kero with diesel as a lubricant? I have used it as an antigel but not for lube. How much kero with fuel? I usually buy 55 gals at a time, It is usually High sulfur but not always.
I think the Grey has some biocide properties as well. I pretty much only use my truck to tow trailer, so it sits sometimes for long spells. I'm always concerned about algae & micro organinisms.
I am private, but was hauling my backhoe the other day when I got dipped on US23 by ODOT. He was very upset to say the least when he pulled red out of my tank. Try explaining to him that it was tranny fluid and that I add a quart to every other tank, he finally believed me when he started to write a ticket and I told him I wasnt moving until he tested.
how exaCTLY do they dip our tanks? isnt therea check valve in ther to prevent the siphoning of fuel? besides, kerosene is legal to add in the winter as a cold start and lubricator
I bought a bottle of Ford injector lubricity additive from the dealer for startup on my new injectors, the label says it contains kerosene. I'd like to hear more about the lubricity benefits of kerosene. Seems like maybe that's another additive option that is pretty cheap.
the ford stuff is a ripoff, its 99% kero, and they sell you 2 different bottles, its the exact same thing! i dont have anything official on it do an epa search and it should be on there site somewhere, but they actually tell you to add a bit of kero in the winter to help with lubricity and cold start and anti gelling, so gee what do all your additives advertise preventing again?????????????? next time smell it before you pour it too

How much would that ticket have been? Maybe red trans is not the best idea in case you get a stuborn cop.
i am really not sure what the fine is here in ohio. i have heard everything form a 1000 dollars to a mior violation to your first born. I couldnt find it on the dot site. I wonder if it would bedifferent if it were a private truck compared to a commercial vehicle.
Not sure but I would imagine they wouldn't care. I have heard between $1000-$10,000 per gallon. Anyway it would be high and it seems it is not worth it. I have been known to run the red stuff but I am beginning to think twice.
their fine is quite high. The only difference between the to fuels is the road tax you pay. Considering that I think their fine are quite outrageous be I guess if they weren't we would be rolling the dice as to which tank full they would catch us on.
