Does anyone know the location of the CHT (Cylinder Head Temp) sensor on a 5.4 and where is a good reference for directions on replacing it?

 

It's under the intake manifold, left front corner. You have to remove the intake to get to it. I'd suggest a Chiltons or Haynes manual and follow their intake R&R instructions.

 

if you pull the alternator off you can get at the sensor.

 

Must be one of those Ford tech tricks of the trade.

FORD TECH RESOURCES says to remove intake manifold. Bet you kick flat rates butt on that one don't ya?

 

what tool did you use once you could see it? I dont have anything that gets a good bite. Deep well wont fit under the intake over the sensor
update: grinded off the end of a bent box end wrench to make it fir betwwen the sensor and the fan. Job complete.

 

Did you snap a pick of that? This is where it is on a 2000 5.4
